pinkytheent Has Pinky found a new delight?! I had never heard of "desert blues" and now I might be hooked. I am in love with these sun-drenched melodic drones. There is such a beautiful mix of hot, sunny, yet weary and melancholy moods to these songs that leaves you with a yearning feeling to watch the sun set from the peak of a dune, with your campfire ready to light as the shadows deepen. I feel red rocks and whipping winds in these tunes, carried on the aching notes twanging into the distance. Favorite track: Tiwàyyen (feat. Kurt Vile, Matt Sweeney).

moonandstar8765 Coming from Buffalo, NY, and having some Northern/Eastern European in me, I've always loved/felt in tune to colder climes.

Tinariwen have been the first to stir in me an appreciation for the beauty of the desert and the heat of the sun.

If you can't feel the love they have for their land in every drumbeat and thrumming, blasting chord, the only explanation is that you're dead. Favorite track: Sastanàqqàm.

hoatzins A friend introduced me to this band through their Nànnuflày music video. The sounds are so classic, but they have something really novel to them. Something that makes me always want more. Favorite track: Nànnuflày (feat. Kurt Vile, Mark Lanegan).
